Why Women's Studies?

Tina McLaughlin presenting her workshop on
Women's Studies in Meredith, New Hampshire.
Tina McLaughlin, a teacher of Women's Studies in New Hampshire, uses media to expose the practice of marginalizing women. She presented a workshop in which she shared many activities used with her students to teach the need to empower girls and women.

One example is the "Equal Pay Bake Sales" where cup cakes are sold to girls for 77 cents and the same cupcake is sold to boys for $1.00.  The message of unequal pay, based on gender, is conveyed immediately.

One of the YouTube videos she presented was "How the Media Failed Women in 2013." Check it out. It is part of  The Representation Project.
